Letter to Ex-Bestfriend

Dear Ex-bestfriend,

I hope you are doing good and are happy, like genuinely happy. Since the time we have parted our ways, I’ll be honest; it’s not been easy. With you, I had my first ever friendship breakup experience, and oh boy! this feeling hurts much more than the break-up I had with the boy who I thought I loved the most. It’s been tough, but I guess it was for the best. You couldn’t undo what you did, and I couldn’t undo what I felt. Though there is one thing I want to say, and that is – thank you. This letter is mostly to thank you.

Thank you for being there with me when I had no one to rely on.
Thank you for comforting me when I got scared.
Thank you for giving me the confidence to believe in me.
Thank you for inspiring me to face my fears.
Thank you for showing me what real courage is.
Thank you for telling me that my feelings are valid.
Thank you for cheering for me when I was working on myself.
Thank you for telling me that you are proud of me when I was doing well.

Even though you were so good to me, there were times when you weren’t fair to me; still, I loved you, because you weren’t fake to me. I loved you because you were your true self in front of me, and humans have flaws. I loved you with your good and not-so-good traits. Trust me when I say this, I genuinely thought that there is nothing in this world that can make me let go of you and that I will never let this friendship fall apart. But life has its own way to fail us whenever we say the word “never”.

I want you to know that though we are not together today, I am incredibly proud of the person you are and things that you have been through. If you ever feel low, know that I would never ever want to see you fall, and that should be good enough reason for you to stand tall again. I hope you remember my love and my words whenever you feel alone or down. I want you to know that I believe in you and you will achieve everything you ever wished for, whether it’s your personal life or professional life. I have seen the person inside you, and I know that person can handle it all and make things happen. You are a strong, intelligent and wonderful human. You can move mountains if you want.

We have parted our ways, and I don’t wish to change that (at least not for now); however, I want you to know whatever success I’ll be celebrating in future, I will always think of you first because you are one of my biggest inspirations.

I also want you to know that our friendship has changed, but my love for you remains the same, so no matter wherever you go in life, or wherever I go in life, my love for you will always remain the same.

Your truly,

The worst part of losing a best friend is that you can’t tell them about it. But then, that’s again life for us; life finds it’s own way to teach lessons which I don’t know why we need to learn in the first place.

P.S. I like writing long letters and long text-messages, deal with it!
P.P.S. Also, stay well.
: )
